Description

Used GEA Process Engineering 1-MVR-Mono Falling Film Evaporator. Previously used to concentrate liquid for making sweetened whey for casein production. The product is preheated in a plate heat exchanger and in external straight-tubes preheater before the heat treatment and concentrated from the inner surface of the tubes in the calandrias. Part of the vapours are compressed by the vapour recompressor and used as heating medium. The unused vapour is passed on to a condenser. Product is transferred and finally discharged by means of specially designed centrigual pumps. Pre-concentrate is finally cooled down for truck transport purpose.


Line is running with an input capacity of ± 15.000 kg of sweet whey per hour, dry matter / TS of 6% and input temperature of 6°C and an output of 2.647 kg of concentrated sweet whey per hour, dry matter / TS of 34% and output temperature of 4 °C.


Note: the plant is designed for an outlet concentration that can be tuned between 32% TS and 36% TS. Considering the crystallization of the lactose at this temperature, the cooling temperature can be adjusted according to practical experience.
