Description
Input: 30.000 liter per hour of skim milk.
End product: 30 Mesh Acid Casein.
Basic of the line build up in 1990, several components updated in the following years.
Dismantling / pick up date: latest July 2025.
Casein is the major protein in cow’s milk and constitutes about 80% of the total protein content of which the rest, some 20%, are the whey or serum proteins. Casein is the basic component of ordinary cheese. In the cheesemaking process, casein is precipitated by the action of rennet enzyme, and a coagulum is formed consisting of casein, whey proteins, fat, lactose and the minerals of the milk.
In order to produce high-quality casein, the raw material, skimmed milk, must be of good quality. If bacteria have had time to act on the protein in the milk as a result of a change in acidity, this will affect the color and consistency of the casein, which will acquire a greyish color and a smoother consistency.
Commercial casein is made from skim milk by one of two general methods, precipitation by acid or coagulation by rennet. At this Casein production plant, Casein is produced from skim milk through acid precipitation (sulphuric acid / H2SO4) obtained by acidifying skim milk to the isoelectric point (pH 4.6 -4.7). As much of the fat, whey proteins, lactose and minerals as possible must be removed by multistage washing in water, as they reduce the quality of the casein as well as its keeping quality. Dried, properly produced casein has a relatively good keeping quality and is used mainly in the food and chemical industries.
The stored pasteurized skim milk (72°C for 15 seconds) will be pumped to the Casein plant. The skim milk will be indirect heated through a plate heat exchanger, the acid will be injected and the product will be further heated by steam injection to a temperature of 50-55 °C. After a brief period of residence in a “cooking” line, the product will be sent to an acidulation tank. The mixture of cooked casein curd and whey is gently stirred in this vat for period of 5-10 minutes. The acidified mixture passes through a pre-screen before going to the dewhey decanter (dewhey decanter is used to reduce consumption of wash water). After catch the product into the wash tub, the product will go through a mincer and the 1st wash tubes before it arrives at the 1st Wash Screen. After 3x wash treatments (wash tubes and wash screens where the product is washed with warm water of ± 45 - 60 °C) and a mincing of the product after wash screen number 3, the chopped curd will goes into the screen worm centrifuge (Conturbex) to take out the remaining liquid before the product is sent out to the drier.
The wash water from the line goes through a fines decanter to remove the remaining solids and these solids will be added in the wash tub of the dewhey decanter and will follow the same process as the final product for the de-whey decanter.
The product will first pass a hot air pre-drier (50-55°C) and finally will be finalized after the hot air main drier (± 65°C) until the water content is 12% and the product is ground to a powder; 30 Mesh Acid Casein.
The storage bins for the final product are too big for dismantling / transport so they are excluded in this quotation as well as the final filling station.

The CONTURBEX is a continuously operating filtration centrifuge and it achieves his flexibility by means of a centrifuge scroll driven at a differential speed. The unique functional principle of pre-accelerated suspension feed to the screening device, combined with homogeneous distribution by means of the worm, enables this centrifuge to perform complex tasks. We achieve optimum dewatering results by adapting the machine parameters, G force and dwell time. The solid material is conveyed by means of a worm rotating at a different speed from the bowl. Solid and liquid are conducted away into separate housing sections. Mother liquor and washing liquid can be drained away separately from each other. The drive for the SIEBTECHNIK screen worm centrifuge stands out for its powerful gear units and a high-quality bearing support. A central oil-circuit lubrication system supplies all the bearings with continuously filtered and temperature-controlled lubricant. This machine concept enables excellent access to all the components coming into contact with the product. The result is fast servicing and maintenance procedures and special cleaning requirements to be met inside the process space.
